The £150 whisky....

George used to work for North British, which means over the many years he accumulated a number of bottles, despite not drinking the stuff himself.

NB basically supply whisky for others to make blends, but produce occasional specials of their own. I was fortunate to be part of a tour of the distillery a wee while back, tasting 50 year old whiskies worth hundreds.

But popping by his place today he disappeared under his floorboards to fetch a bottle for my birthday tomorrow. It's a centenary bottling from 1985, and is worth around £150.

Now in fairness I'm not sure that the taste quite justifies the cost, but they're rare, and that accounts for the value. Those who worked there aren't allowed to sell them on, so they come to market incredibly infrequently.

43 mile training ride before breakfast offset by s cracking dinner at Seasons. And the whisky of course. And cheese from George Mews. Yeah. Offset.
