Getting Creative

My second Saturday at the Covent Garden Acaademy of Floral Design.  Today we did some table arrangements.  This large floral ring was great fun to create.  We also made a wired bouquet of orchids (see Extras).  This was quite tricky as you have to wire each flower and leaf individually, then in groups, then altogether into the final bouquet.  As you do so the orchids ooze a sticky fluid. As you can see my orchids got slightly twisted as I put them together - something to watchout for next time.

After the course Andy met  me and we took the train back to Richmond so we could visit his sisters for dinner.  It was a lovely evening, full of chatter and lovely food.  We returned to Hampshire quite tired.

I have also included in Extras a painting which is on display on the side of the Hayward Gallery on the South Bank.  I find it quite calming to see this image of the forested snowy hills in the middle of the city.  It appears to perhaps be an interpretation of a view from a hot air balloon or to be using the balloon as a symbol of something - hot air of the city versus the cool air of the countrside?!  I am not sure.  I would need to investigate further.
