The Butteries again

We took a short walk that became longer. Up above the Madonna del Sasso again on the flanks of Mt Giove. Lots of climbing and descending in crisp air under cloudy skies. We were up near 900m at one point.

It was a good distraction from the French elections.

These flowers were abundant under the chestnut and oak canopy. The famous cistus (laurifolius - leaves like  a laurel/bay) that grows on this mountain - only place in Italy - was not yet in flower  (see extra).

Much relief that Macron got through to the second round. Hopefully that will see off Marine Le Pen's challenge even if French politics may be changed forever.
