Spray Paint Art

This is my new friend, Ramon, working on a painting for me on a recycled metal license plate.  We spent few hours shopping in Los Algodones, Mexico this morning, about 45 minutes from my sister's house.  Yuma is a busy place from September to April with many retired "snowbirds" who leave their homes in colder climates to spend the winters here.  Since this border town is so close many people visit there regularly to shop for bargains...and there are many!  The first businesses you see upon crossing the border are pharmacies and dental offices.  No prescriptions are necessary for any medications and they are fully stocked with all the common drugs.  My sis needed to refill her albuterol inhaler that cost $69.00 in Yuma.  There she bought a 3 pack of inhalers for $5.99 and they are exactly the same!  There are also huge bargains on dental procedures and eye exams and glasses.  Then there is all the "stuff".....clothing, jewelry, knick knacks of every imaginable kind, leather goods, etc. etc.  On our way back to the border I remembered that I wanted to buy pure vanilla and I got a 500 ml bottle for $1.90.  While in the store I noticed they had liquor and we are allowed to bring one liter per person back across the border.  So we each got a bottle of Gin (although they are both for me) for $7.00 and I know it's good because I've bought it in Mexico in the past.  We were ready to head back by around 12:30 and when we got to the border there was a huge line in the blazing sun that probably would have taken about 2 hours to go through customs and then a long walk back to our car.  We had parked on the US side and walked across as most people do.  There was also a long line of cars waiting to cross over.  I told my sister to wait in the shade and I approached the first car in line driven by a single woman and offered her $20 to drive us across the border.  She was happy to do it and in 5 minutes we were back in the USA and very close to our parked car.  Definitely money well spent!  We had lunch on the way home and spent the rest of the afternoon in and around the pool.  Another nice day :-)
