Bonnie The Bald Blushing Bloomer

Coincidentally, was writing about this forlorn 'Little Bird' called Bonnie today, as the public art of a giant 'Big Bird' was being launched on the Radio 4 news. Created by Charles Jencks, Nothumberlandia is coined the 'Lady of The North' (yawn).

In comparison, this modest little public art example is not grand or perfect, but it is honest and well-meaning - and was probably made on a ridiculous shoestring. Not sure if the glass mosaics have fallen or been prised off, but it cuts a sad figure, and needs some TLC from someone prepared to take responsibility.

I spotted my bald bird (one of a pair) on the walk from the M.O.T garage (the car passed with just £55 bill yippee!); and probably chose it because I was reminded of MrsB giving me a severe home haircut with the Babyliss clippers this morning; and me then spending another 4 hours shearing our bloody Holly Hedge for a third time this year.

Postscript: Google reveals that 'Fat Birds on Knutsford Moor' comprises 'Belle the Knutsford Bluebird' and 'Bonnie the Blushing Bloomer'. Both were commissioned as part of a project celebrating the moor's wildlife and made by local mosaic artist Patricia Lee.
