Re: Cycling

I am not religious in a strict sense, but I am a sucker for the 'feel-good' spirit in 'Good Morning Sunday' hosted by Aled Jones on Radio 2 early doors every Sunday.

Typical pattern this day for me is to be up at about 07:30 for about two hours before MrsB stirs (6 hours + for J). I love this time to myself, and in the days BB (Before Blipfoto) I used it to slowly read the Telegraph with a nice cuppa or two (is it terrible to admit to the Telegraph just because a. you only like a broadsheet; and b. prefer their chief Football Correspondent Henry Winter?). I also often used to watch the early re-run of Match of the Day, but now with our TV requiring at least 3 hours notice between switch-on and transmitted picture, that kind-of kills that sponteneity. People ask why don't we get a new HD one, but it is kind of a member of our family like a pet, so we feel it ought be allowed to fully pass away before the graveyard skip beckons. Trouble is, this situation has been slowly deteriorating for about 6 months now.

Was woken today actually by a repeated screech of bicycle brakes and shouting from the same voice outside of "straight on, straight on!". So I dressed quickly and headed out for the walk to the paper shop, where I was confronted by the double whammy of 'Race For Life' bicycle race streaming past the front door, and heading down my 'Blip-Bermuda Triangle' of Tabley Road; and the massive annual Scouts Car Boot Sale setting up on the Heath opposite. Blimey, all this before 08:00. Spoilt for choice.

Took a few shots (nothing amazing as usual) but as I have decided today is a full work day, and tomorrow pesky hedge cutting day #3 due to weather forecasts, this is your lot. Chose the cyclists in the end, not because the screaming steward had woken me up (he had), but because Sir Bradley Wiggins will also be literally cycling past our front door around noon on 10th September on the Cheshire leg of the Tour of Britain. Crickey, had better not miss that one!

Anyway, I finally wandered back home with my paper (and a guilty but paid-for pack of Smokey Bacon tucked in my jacket) and settled down with my coffee.

Just as I did so, an impressive young singer called Luke Paul Jackson was introducing his Live Session to Aled Jones. His song 'More Than Boys' was about a group of friends going fishing for the day, and their summer (and so childhood) coming to an end. Great song and lovely piscatorial start to the day.

Which reminds me: Birthday fishing blip(s) are in prospect for later this week!!

Happy Sunday All!
