Lacock (Thursday 9th March 2017)
I've just added a new lens to my collection by part-exchanging two redundant ones, and went out on Thursday to put it through its paces. It is designed for full-frame cameras like my K-1 but first I thought I would try it out on an APS-C sensor. Initially I put it on my yellow K-50 and took some pictures at the Hills Pools in Lower Compton (see Extra). I had a picnic lunch there watching the buzzards and tufted ducks, and then moved on to the Lake View estate in Quemerford and photographed converted mill houses and so forth.
When I reached Lacock I finally put the new lens on the K-1, and so the blip of Lacock Abbey in somewhat dull conditions that you see was taken at the full 15mm the lens is capable of. The lens is pretty heavy, especially on the K-1 which is my heaviest camera body, so I think I will be saving it for specific occasions, however the detail and definition are excellent.

While I was in the grounds I spent half an hour or more sitting on a bench reading a long Mojo feature on Syd Barrett from the Pink Floyd. This track comes from his first solo album The Madcap Laughs, a line that occurs in this song. An edited version was released as a single
