This morning I awoke to the sad news that Sir George Martin had died at his home here in Wiltshire, aged 90, the previous day. Without his input into the Beatles' music from the very early days when he added piano, harpsichord and string arrangements, to his masterful realisation of impossible requests for creations like Being For The Benefit Of Mr Kite, Tomorrow Never Knows, A Day In The Life or Strawberry Fields Forever, their records would have been very different indeed. However, he had many more strings to his bow, and this 6CD tracklisting of his productions alone show an incredible range and diversity. His is the harpsichord on this piece from Abbey Road, which he also produced, of course.
