Emerging from the Abyss
Dear Diary,
Glorious melting! Two days of rain have significantly shrunk the hills of snow around my house. The giant pile in back now has a chasm where water from the roof has eroded deep gaps. Rudy has been popping in and out of them like a prairie dog on the high plains! It is very comical to watch. I suspect he has an interconnected tunnel system beneath the holes.
For the first time I was able to catch a glimpse of the ears of the terracotta cat sculpture and it was a sight for sore eyes I can tell you. There is a feint whisper of a possible snow storm next week but I am hoping that they are wrong about that. We are finally making progress dragging ourselves out of the white shroud that has covered us for weeks and I can’t think about returning to it.
It was in the low 50’sF yesterday and I sat for a short time on the steps of my front porch. What a fabulous feeling that warm sun was! I have always said that I was “solar powered” and I need sun in my life. My grandmother always loved to tell the story of me as a small baby lying on a blanket on the kitchen floor rolling over and over to stay in the sun. I guess it is just who I am and 67 years hasn’t changed a thing!
