Break in the weather

Today I took my mom for a walk at one of our old haunts, Whatcom Falls Park. We walked the whole loop from parking lot to off-leash dog area, through the cemetery, and back through the park. She didn't pick up one rock or pine cone! She also didn't talk about wanting to go home in an overt way, though at Silverado, before we left for our walk, she said she had a grocery store ad in her pocket because she was going to the store later.

When we got back to Silverado after the walk, she didn't know where we were. I told her we were going to have dinner there with Paul and Wilson, and then she seemed happy to go in. After dinner we took a walk around the building looking at all the animals: birds, fish, and the new gerbils. When I put on my coat to leave and said I'd see her later, she said, "Oh right. I forgot that I stay here." Wow. So smooth!

The big mystery now is what's up with a certain other resident. Every time my mom sees her, mom says, "That woman hates me. I can't even tell you what she said to me." But then I hear from staff that they sit together at meals sometimes and enjoy activities together. What I see, mostly, is that mom likes to hang out with the staff.
