Night out

Having had a lovely family meal, last night, this evening Bob and I went out just the two of us. In anticipation of a boozy evening and despite the bad weather, I decided to walk into town via the rugby club, just to get some steps in. Fortunately, the Minx recently gave me a brolly a while back, which I used this evening for general shelter for myself and also for the camera whilst taking this picture.

I would normally have binned this photo because the umbrella snuck in at the top of the frame but I have included it for commemorative purposes as the brolly was soon to be a casualty of the much windier weather down on the path to Ruskin's View. That made me feel a bit sad.

I soon perked up when I met up with Bob in the Royal Barn, though, where we had a couple of their excellent and locally brewed ales before moving on - geographically and alcoholically - to the Snooty Fox and a bottle of wine.

Bob and I have been friends for over thirty years now and I enjoy his company very much. Inevitably we chatted a bit about Trump and the politics in this country but one of the reasons I love talking to Bob is that he always has an interesting (and well-informed angle). And it wasn't all sober reflection, we had plenty of laughs, too, as well as another bottle of wine. Thanks for a great evening, Bob!
