Highs and Lows

I forgot to take a photo yesterday, so both are from today. The main difference? Aside from the stellar weather, today was really difficult where yesterday felt like solid progress.

When I got there today, mom said she didn't want to walk. She only wanted to go home. That was rough. She was carrying an armful of her possessions and wouldn't put anything down and wouldn't even sit with me. She said she was waiting to go home. Ali, the social worker at Silverado, chatted with mom and got her to put her stuff down, so I was eventually able to get her interested in a walk. We were out and about for almost two hours. Here she is at the Co-op having coffee and a cookie. Yum. 80% of our conversation was on how much she wanted to go home.

I've been told it takes new residents about a month to settle into the new routine. Hmm... Paul thinks it will take at least that long for me to settle into it. Today I came home thinking about how I could try something different for her care. But what?
