Family day out

When they were children the daughters thought every family spent Saturdays on a bus going to demonstrations against nuclear weapons or apartheid, and that the traffic in the centre of London was stopped for them.

We didn't think we'd be back on the streets again, but here we are, three generations, supporting the NHS and protesting against hospital closures and privatisation. Only a few hundred people turned out. They'll miss it when it's gone.

When we got home Ella asked if the hospital was safe now.
