Ugly Mess

There's something about this photo that screams "rule breaker" at me.
I expect there's nothing about it that a photo is supposed to have.

Nevertheless I like the empty middle space, the grotty wall, the unfocused thing to the right, and the fact that the main flower is not taking centre stage.

There's no good looking for perfection today. Everything is buggered. In front of me there was yet another massive slug on a mission as I crouched to take this shot in the dark and rain just now.

I ran around like an idiot before a carpet man came to measure up today and I also attempted to replace some bathroom lights that still didn't work. They're really cheap lights anyway and I don't expect they'll last very long even when we do get them working. The carpet man suggested the cheap carpet we'd chosen wasn't going to be good enough for our stairs and hall so we dashed into town at 5pm to get some more samples before the carpet shop's sale ends. Then we had to take Gemma to buy some paint for her bedroom because she's insisting on colour rather than the job lot of off-white we're going for everywhere else.

This has just depressed the crap out of me: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2012/aug/27/arctic-ice-rich-world-disaster?CMP=twt_fd

Time for a big sigh
