the park and the sea

Sunday found us taking a metro ride and long walk out to the Serralves Park, originally created by a wealthy resident Alerto Cabral and acquired by the state in 1986. it is 45 acres of park, sculptures, a contempoary art museum and - my main reason for going - a wonderful pink Art Deco house with a formal parterre at the front, now used as exhibition space. surprisingly I expected blazes of colourful flowers but the park is very green, lots of trees and shrubs around a lake. I found a few wee flowers to photograph! I loved the house - I took more pics of the inside and will get some up on flickr soon.

the park is only a bus ride from the Atlantic ocean so we had lunch and watched the surfers then took a walk along the beach.

we finished off the day with yet another visit to another port lodge - Graham's this time, and sampled yet more port before rolling back to our hotel!
