long boat ride

today we spent on a boat. John's choice, a full day cruise up the river Douro, which began at 8.30 with breakfast on the boat it was a lovely relazing way to spend the time and see some of the countryside and - towards the end - the vineyards. we had a three course lunch with wine provided too, and got off the boat at 4pm and got the train back to Porto, which was late and it was very hot so the end of the day wasn't so great. I took lots of pics of the hillsides, the red tiled roofs,even some huge turbines, but I sat most of the day looking at this gate on the boat from behind - it says BarcaDouro, the name of the company, and I just liked it. an OK day, pity it was our last, but we finished off with a glass of wine and some people watching.
