Sunday Glow
We travelled this morning to Mawdesley - the Cedar Farm Gallery. Then onto Burscough and the Ship Inn for Sunday lunch. And following that, a chilly walk along the Rufford branch of the Leeds Liverpool Canal.
It's a time for flocking. As we started the walk, gulls in the fields - black-headed, but an incongruous mediterranean in their midst. Lots of rooks and jackdaws were also grouped in the trees near the Inn. Further on, and on the way back, large flocks of fieldfares. And best of all, at the furthest point we reached before turning back, skeins of pink footed geese heading west towards the coast - distant but unmistakable (see extra). This part of England is unspectacular - flat and arable. But there is something I like about it.
The sun was setting as we returned. So that has to be the blip.
