Kendal

A day off work, and a visit to Kendal - before the rain and wind returns.

It's an attractive town with more independent shops than the average. The various yards which lead off the main streets are fascinating. It is a long time since Arthur Wainwright was Borough Treasurer of the local council. He is remembered at Wainwright Yard, which is a well designed retail development on the site of the old Westmorland Gazette printing press, where his first books were self published.

The blip is the facade of a local hardware shop, looking christmassy in its own way.
