Wasp Nest

These wasps had made their nest in on of the covers for the apple trees. The covers are to stop the hares eating the bark again.
I managed to get stung taking this shot. I now realise how many type of wasp there are. This one doesn't seem to be on the common list in Wikipedia. Maybe someone will put me out of my misery and tell us what they are:) They are darker and longer than 'normal' wasps, with longer wings.
I've been hoping for a hornet but I haven't seen one for months. They tend not to be aggressive, unlike these ones. Sting wise, today's is nothing like as bad as a bee.
