Talking to Old Photographs
Dear Diary,
Another opportunity to mine some memories from an old photograph with my favorite exercise, I could talk about...
I could talk about my baby sister Kathie, just a few months old in this photograph. Today is her 58th birthday and her second wedding anniversary! How I adored her!
I could talk about that toy organ that Kathie loved to bang on hour on end till it drove us all crazy and it had to be put up out of her reach.
I could talk about the ever present box of Crayola crayons, my favorite "toy". I still love them.
I could talk about that old television set, our first, that took a minute to "warm up" and how for a large part of the day it showed only a test pattern. Not many stations back in 1959.
I could talk about that wonderful blue dress. It must have been a Sunday when Dad took this photo, we always dressed up for church.
I could talk about the bookcase shelves full of the Encyclopedia Britannica. I would sit for hours going through each volume. It was how we "Googled it" back in the 1950's.
I could even talk about those big silver radiators where I would dry my mittens after coming in from playing in the snow. I still love the smell of wet wool!
So much in one small photograph!
