Connel Bridge

Drove up to Taynuilt and into Glen Lonan this morning to sign up for a couple of beds in one of the polytunnels rented by Lorn Organic Growers. We don't have space to grow vegetables at our new home, so this should be both fun and useful.

Another beautiful day - the last one, people are saying - so I looked out for a Blip subject on my way home. The summit of Ben Cruachan had a dusting of new snow this morning, but was not in the sun, so I reluctantly left him alone and took this picture of Connel Bridge instead.

When it was opened in 1903 to carry the railway from Oban to Ballachulish it was the second longest railway bridge in Britain, beaten only by the Forth Bridge. Both were built by Arrol's of Glasgow.

I've added a few extras from Saturday as I didn't get them posted yesterday. All were taken across Loch Awe at a distance of around half a mile. In sequence they are: St Conan's Kirk,  the Lochawe Hotel and Kilchurn Castle with Carraig Thura background left.
