A Cuil afternoon
Today was yet another wonderful day, dry and sunny from early on - and it's November! We took a picnic up to Cuil, near Duror, where you can park above the beach, enjoy the view and have a walk. When we arrived the bay was empty and I have to say that we had our lunch inside the car as it wasn't only the beach that was Cuil! Ha! A hardy bobble-hatted couple turned up, took a mat out of the car and picnicked quickly on the grass before loading up and disappearing in short order.
We enjoyed a post-prandial wander across to the little fishing shed which is visible about a sixth of the way into the picture from the left, where a very tidy fisherman coils all the ropes neatly and hangs his gloves on a specially made rack - see extras. I did promise to add some extras from yesterday, but I'm afraid that will have to be postponed!
On the way out to the main road I stopped to photograph the beautiful old Duror bridge, hidden in the woods. It was built probably at the end of the 18th century and is still fairly complete - and certainaly saveable. How do I set about finding a way of having it restored, I wonder, before it's too late? An old packhorse bridge beside Loch Lomond was restored some years ago and this is just as deserving. The new bridge was built in 1939.
