Scarborough lily
The Scarborough lily is neither a lily nor from Scarborough, but an Amaryllid from South Africa!
Too tender to grow outside here, it makes a lovely glasshouse or house plant and flowers on stems 15" high. There are other colour forms, but I like the original best.
I've grown it for many years and have always known it as Vallota speciosa, but its name has been changed to Cyrtanthus elatus, which is rather a pain, but this happens all the time!
It's a very easy plant to grow and flowers well.
