The East (2)

Aye, so after breakfast in Meissen it was off to Dresden, a few kilometers up the Elbe.

A lovely drive along the river after I realised the satnav was trying to take us the long way via the Autobahn, and disconnected the wee bu**er. Hate the things, but it’s not my car and I wasn’t driving.

A great day wandering around the centre of the city. A very interesting place.

We managed a fantastic lunch to keep our energy levels up. First time I’ve had elderberry soup...  Maybe also the first time I’ve had prosecco at lunchtime on a Monday. Definitely the first time I’ve had pumpkin syrup in prosecco. Halloween cocktail.

At 5.30pm it was back to the car and back along the Autobahn(s). 240 miles in 3 hours exactly.

The Blip is the Frauenkirche. It was destroyed in the 1945 bombing. It was left that way as a memorial during the DDR period and then restored after re-unification, the work being completed in 2005.

The extras are my favourite view of the city and the Rosengarten (which we stumbled on while looking for something else).
