Tuesday: Toronto

A day of meetings in chilly Ottawa today and then a quick flight this evening to Toronto, where it is positively balmy.

I arrived when it was already dark but I did take a bit of a walk in the neighbourhood, particularly as the weather was so pleasant. I did take a photo I really liked but for some reason it just isn't downloading from my memory card. So here you have Yonge Street, one of Toronto's main thoroughfares.

Ottawa left me a bit indifferent but, so far, I like what I see of Toronto.

Having heard him speak at the Vancouver Writer's Fest, I was looking forward to reading Hisham Matar's 'The Return' and I wasn't disappointed. It's Matar's story of trying to find out what happened to his father who was active against the Qaddafi regime and who was imprisoned in Libya. Matar spent 25 years trying to find out what happened to him - it's a book I can really, really recommend.
