A day out in London

At the start of the school year we were fortunate enough to meet an author of children's literature. Olivia has since read all of his books and for her birthday we bought her the book 'Katie in London.'She has become fascinated by the stories and especially the artwork so we promised her a day in London so that we could visit some of the places that katie goes to. She also wanted to sample some of the Olympic fever so both Olivia and Dexter were kitted out in their Olympic GB t-shirts and were given flags to wave all day, which they did admirably!

First of all we visited Buckingham Palace and then we went to Trafalgar Square so that O could see the lions and then we went to the National Gallery which was fab. Olivia genuinely surprised us as she recognised so many of the pictures in the gallery and would point them out to us and explain which books she had seen them in and describe what happened in the book.

A really lovely day, especially as the kids got to spend the day with Granny Franny and we also met up with my cousin Rachel again who I've seen three times within one week (we last saw each other four years ago!).
