London 2012 - Day 14

And we're in! Hurrah, hurrah, hurrah!

2004: Athens - we had Olympic tickets but had to sell them as we moved overseas for the first time to new jobs.

2008: Beijing - we had a one year old baby so thought traveling to China for the Olympics wasn't the best idea.

2012: London - nothing was going to stop us (although the ballot system had a good go). Somehow we managed to get the tickets that we wanted for the Athletics. The Olympic stadium and atmosphere were amazing. I had excited goose bumps from the minute we arrived at the park where we just walked around trying to soak it all in. I took hundreds of photos but finally settled on the one above as it's not every day you see a world record being smashed. The US 4 x 100m relay girls were incredible. It wasn't actually a great night for British athletics but I did shed a few tears of pride for the athletes - it's emotional stuff! It was also fun cheering on Belgium and GB in the Men's 4 x 400m relay.

All in all, a fantastic night that I will remember for a long time to come. I have to admit that I was a little sceptical that London could pull it off as I was worried about the huge volume of people and delays on public transport, but I needn't have worried as the organisation was superb. Everyone that we encountered such as the Games makers, military, supporters and shop assistants were so polite, patient and friendly. Thank you for a fantastic day!
