Love Ivy

If you have ivy in your garden you have something very precious at this time of year. This patch in our hedge is just coming into flower, and today it was literally humming. Some honeybees were gathering pollen, hover flies were after nectar, and a pair of wrens were happily feeding on some of the plump insects!
Some people cut ivy down thinking that it kills trees and pulls down walls, but if you can keep some patches you will be doing the natural world a big favour
