Whitby safety gate

This gate really caught my eye when out on Whitby harbour wall. It is closed when storm conditions are so bad that people might get washed off...as if anyone would go out there in stormy conditions!
The gate has been designed as a tribute to all seafarers of Whitby, and when you think what it might have been like, I think it is truly splendid!
