Celebration

I have to confess I am not a golfer, yet over  the years have been a regular visitor to the Wellow Golf Club.
It’s set in 200 acres of parkland surrounding Embley Park, now the Hampshire Collegiate School, but once the home of Florence Nightingale and her family.
It is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary, as one of the best respected privately owned golf clubs in the region.
Regular golfers tell me it is an easy walking yet challenging parkland course, of 27 holes, arranged as three loops of nine holes,  Ryedown, Embley and Blackwater which provides opportunities for all standards of golfer.
My visits to the clubhouse have primarily focused on the restaurant and bar where over the years we have been impressed by the welcoming friendly atmosphere, and for several years my wife participated in craft fairs based here.

The club is still owned and run by the Windell family and they have remained committed to increasing golf participation and promoting the game at grassroots level. As well as improving the course and its facilities year after year, the members of this friendly club now enjoy some of the best-kept greens and fairways
