Are we nearly there yet?

Coo, it's tiring sitting doing nothing! I've spent 7 hours travelling today, from Munich in the south of Germany to Schwanndorf in the east and then across to Prague.

I was last on a train like the one between Schwanndorf and Prague - little rooms inside the carriages (I know they have a name but it escapes me just now) - when I was about 7. Some of my extended family were going to Cornwall on holiday, and someone came up with the idea that we kids should go on the train with my nan (and grandad?) whilst the adults drove. Unfortunately my memory's shocking, so I don't remember the journey, but I'm sure my nan would've been tortured! I shared today's carriage room with two Czech gentlemen of youngish - but indeterminate - age, one of whom spent much of the journey with his head stuck out of the window like a dog on a long car journey...

I've been to Prague before - it was my first holiday after I freed myself from the marital shackles and my first time abroad in 13 years. And my first holiday alone. At the time, I was still having crippling panic attacks 2 or 3 times a week, and I was quite scared to be alone, even for just 4 days. My dad, as always, set my mind at rest - "If something happens, we are only a plane ride away". I did need to ring them on one of the nights, and between them they talked me down from the paralyzing terror that I was going to die. I went out for a walk then - I was staying near the old town square and, even late at night, there were lots of people around - and I was calm again by the time I got back. Hopefully this visit will be a bit less fraught!

Anyway, because I arrived so late I'm in a smoking room - ridiculous in this day and age that you have to specifically request non-smoking - so I've wolfed down a sandwich for dinner (and I've tried to eat the wasabi crisps but they're almost making my nose bleed) and I've come down to the bar (no smoking, free WiFi and campari & orange - what more could I want?). Apparently I can request a non-smoking room for tomorrow night in the morning. Someone set the alarm!
