Fairground attraction?
Millennium Square in Leeds is host to all sorts - the Kristkindelmarkt in November/December, along with a real live ice skating rink, the Yorkshire Rocks Cancer festival and, to come in October (which I'd love to see) Momentous, which will see the facade of the Civic Hall transformed into an animated mechanical clock. At the moment, all the square's a carnival - there are stalls, a helter skelter (how cool were they when you were a kid??), dodgems, that ride with the swings that swirl outwards and an actual, honest to goodness beach (well, a bit of sand anyway). There were lots of families out in the sunshine today, which was lovely to see (particularly the exchange between a mother and one child, who'd just hit his sister which resulted in everyone having ice cream but him - there was a major sulk going on as we walked past!).
I was down there having lunch with my friend Sally. We haven't seen each other for a couple of months, what with holidays and whatnot, so it was lovely to catch up and have a laugh. She took me to task about work too - having been (I hope she won't mind me saying) in a much worse situation for much longer, she speaks from experience. I shall do as I'm told...
I also took the car to the garage this afternoon to have the lump of metal removed from the tyre - I needed a new one unfortunately, which is a bit galling as the existing one was a Michelin and had only been on since January/February time. Still, hey ho, what's done is done. There were offering half price parking sensors (£150 - a good deal?) which he was trying to sell me after seeing the damage to the front of the car (and the other damage to the rear wheel arch). I tried to tell him that it was people hitting me, not me reversing into stuff, that caused both lots of damage, but I don't think he believed me...
All in all, a much better day than yesterday - and no stupid questions from anyone woo hoo!
