Large class sizes
Today has been a long, hot day visiting schools in far-flung rural locations to meet some of the young women in the GEC project we are working on. It’s such a privilege, and very humbling, to be involved in a project that is having such a positive effect on these people’s lives and on their communities more widely. Most of the first cohort of learning assistants have now passed their entrance exams, and have started on their teacher training programme, which consists of distance learning with occasional residential weeks, alongside continuing their work in schools. We were visiting some of these women today, and it was inspiring to see them in action and learn about their experiences. Most of the classes we visited were large in number. The one pictured here was at the extreme end of the scale, and was being taught on her own, very calmly, by one the women in our project. Amazing! Don’t be fooled by the children leaping up at the back, that was for the benefit of the camera!
