Friday night in Copacabana

I seem to have spent most of the day washing up – we used our best china, which needs hand washing, and all we had the energy to do last night was to put the food away before going to bed. Between times, I went with Ronaldo (handyman) to collect a TV he’s bought for his girlfriend, and to take HHs broken computer monitor for repair.

This evening, our former guest Luke suggested some beers at a bar renowned for its snacks. It’s not much more than a hole in the wall, but immensely popular and crammed any night of the week, so quick service on a Friday evening would have been a lot to hope for. The few tables inside and all those round the front were full, with stools in lieu of tables for those standing – but the beer was wonderfully cold and the snacks really are good, and it was fascinating to see the crowds around this bar and the others nearby.. Loved seeing Luke and catching up on his news and we were very touched that he had suggested meeting up. He’s off early tomorrow morning to do in one day a mountain walk that most people take two or three days to do, and still hoping to get to a ceilidh in the evening in time for at least one dance. He’s crazy!
