Doorstep joy

My first moment of doorstep joy was finding this voucher, posted through my letterbox from the very lovely people at Ginger & Co. They now do evening openings with beer and wine and local goodies and I received a 'Ginger Ticket' for a free cheese or meat sharing board. Sometimes it's good to casually talk about your house number on Instagram.

My second moment of doorstep joy (terror) was receiving my Birmingham Half Marathon number. And this time I don't have to run as Hantony! I have such a love / hate relationship with running but I know that my feelings of dread will ultimately turn into elation on the finish line.

This evening I attended an event at the Abbey put on by our local churches together group, giving an opportunity for our local (Tory) MP to come and share about how his faith affects his decisions. I tried to go in with an open mind but I'm sorry to say that I found him smug and patronising and when talking about his faith, pretty false. I felt the same at a local hustings last year when (in a church setting) most of the candidates tried to give some vague historical reference to some kind of church attendance. I'd much rather they were honest and didn't try and patronise us. Anyway, I didn't find myself getting too angry until the coffee break when the microphone was off and I was a couple of seats behind him. There were two banners on either side of the church; one displaying the lists of the fruits of the spirit and one displaying a list of sins and immoralities. Danny K was quick to point out that the gifts banner was blue and the sins one was red. "Tory's good, Labour bad", guffaw guffaw. Well done love.
