Ireland

Had a few days with no tours at Speke Hall and only half days at The Cathedral, so took a detour along the Dock Road. Still so sad to see so few ships around. Decided to walk along and see what was happening and take a few blips. First Dock I focused on was Clarence Dock (opened in 1830) it covered over 6 acres and could take ships just over 47ft wide. The total length of the quay was 914 yards. Named after William Duke of Clarence who became William IV. The plague on the gates shows the impact of the potato famine in Ireland on Liverpool. In more recent times the plans were to build a new stadium for Everton here (about 2004) but those plans fell through. The extra shows the exterior dock walls. I will try and add another dock each day this week
