You really must call in here

Lunesdale Bakery, our destination for lunch. We've called in here a few times before. Huge, tasty portions, great jacket potatoes and large bowls of soup amongst other tempting items. A tremendous choice of cakes and tray bakes too. My cheese and ham baked potato had half a pig between the cheese and the potato.

The journey from Northampton to Kirkby Longsdale and on to Keswick was surprisingly good if a little slower than anticipated owing to longer stops at service stations and a bit of traffic in the roadworks around junction 18 on the M6.

We're staying at Garth Cottage, newly converted holiday accommodation at Oakfield House on the A591 just north of Keswick. First impressions are good. We will know more in the morning when the rain will hopefully have passed through.
