Assos & Fiskardo
During the night there were more violent thunderstorms and lightning which carried on until about 1.30pm. After breakfast we decided to drive the two hours north over the mountains to Fiskardo (top of the island) as we couldn't go to the beach! We could see thunderbolts hitting the mountainside; Mrs BB was terrified and wanting to turn back|!
I won and we continued into Assos and found a cafe on the harbourside to have a bite to eat/drink. As we did so the weather changed to bright sunshine, so much so that we had to buy a towel so Mrs BB could have a swim in the harbour underneath the castle! Driving up the cliff out of Assos I took the extra pic which shows all this mini peninsula village in all its beauty.
Driving onto Fiskardo, it is one of the most beautiful places we've been too! A stunning village that is just so picturesque you could spend a lifetime taking photo's there. The harbourside cafe and shops are super. The shops expensive but the cafe quite reasonable I thought.
The main blip picture is taken from the clifftop at the top of Fiskardo as the sun was burning it's way through clouds, casting lovely light on the sea.
About 7.15pm, we were driving through Skala near where we are staying and crossing the road infront was an old friend/colleague, Allyn Richards, who retired from the Police 10 years ago and now lives on the island all year round. We had a drink with him and have arranged to meet him on Saturday night to celebrate my birthday.
