Lyme Regis

We woke to another grey day.  TT scoured the weather forecasts and thought that we had the best chance of decent weather if we headed south, so we did.  We headed to Lyme Regis, which is just over the border in Dorset. A few years ago I read Remarkable Creatures, based on the life of Mary Anning who lived in Lyme Regis and since then I have wanted to visit.

Parking was at a premium, but we found a park and ride and then spent a really lovely afternoon exploring Lyme Regis.  We had a picnic lunch overlooking the beach and harbour, and the boys then played crazy golf.  We then wandered along the coast on a fossil hunt, and soon you realise that there is evidence of fossils everywhere.  During the afternoon the tide went out revealing more of the coast, and the sun came out, so TT’s weather prediction was correct.

Here is a view to the town and the cliffs over the jumble of boats in the harbour.  The extra show a fossil hunter and colour by the harbour.
