Elephant running
Today was just the perfect work day: sun streaming through the window, productive team planning times, praying excitedly about the new term and some of our young people and a little bit of design work. On days like this, I adore my job.
And I put my house on the market. No biggy.
Realising that it's only about seven weeks until the Birmingham half marathon I set out to do some interval training tonight. It is impossible to sprint as an adult in public without looking like a child who's having races with imaginary friends or like you've stolen something (however, less like a child than the man doing sprints with a little parachute tied to his back -presumably for resistance - which made him look like he was pretending to be Action Man).
I've got some noise reduction headphones which today I used only for running cues and not music. The result during the silent periods was that I could hear the thudding of my feet when running, which sounded very much like a baby elephant.
Oh, and one more thing. I was running some loops around some flat parts of the Quarry. However, on my second loop I saw a man I know sitting on a bench talking to a friend. I exchanged mid-run pleasantries but then had to change my entire route for the rest of the run because I didn't want to do multiple mid-run pleasantries over and over again which would have been awkward beyond measure.
