The Same But Different (2)
Bigger fly.
Another bramble shot, but a new subject.
Apart from a sudden tropical type storm at lunchtime (thunder rumbling low overhead took out my TV signal for about 20 minutes, disrupting my viewing of the Murray v Federer match - how dare it! lol) today has been gorgeous.
After feeding Tom this morning I took my camera over to the bramble bush by the edge of the stream. As usual it was teeming with various insects, a few Gatekeepers and a couple of Ringlets. At one point I saw a Comma, and my hopes rose of a blip - but the damned thing just flitted about and wouldn't settle anywhere. Still, at least I now know they're about - maybe another day ....
The bramble still has many buds on it, so hopefully the insects will be about on it for a few weeks yet - but today they all seemed to be the usual suspects. Then I spotted this House fly glinting on a flower head and managed a shot of it - I was really pleased with it once I uploaded it, so it's my blip for today.
I also liked this shot of a Flesh fly (Scarcophaga carneria).
At one point a small blue Damselfly arrived and moved from one nettle stem to another, pausing at each one. I took 3 shots of it but THIS was the best - not good enough for my blip compared to the fly.
This morning I started to wonder how many more times I can visit that bramble bush and find something new to blip. Which gives me a music link hehehe - Led Zeppelin ...
A fantastic performance by Andy Murray today in the Olympics men's singles tennis final, Federer certainly looking a bit defeated from the off. Shame that Murray and Robson couldn't win the mixed doubles final, but a gold and a silver is a great result!
