Shelter from the storm...

We've just enjoyed a lovely blipmeet with Shaamie (Craig) and Alison who are enjoying a sun drenched holiday in Kerry. We rendezvoused in a Bantry and ate large amounts of coffee and cake and then came back to the Sheep's Head where we ate some more, talked some more and partook of a walk around the environs where we got spectacularly wet. Here we sheltering in a ruin - oddly it seemed wetter inside than out. How fantastic to meet one of my favourite blippers and his missus, two very warm, charming and relaxed types who are both passionate about Ireland.

Just a mention of the play we watched last night - Forgotten . I have to rank it as one of the most astonishing theatrical experiences ever - along with Mark Rylance in Twelfth Night and Ian McCellen in Othello - really. Packed into a tiny village hall we watch Pat Kinevane deliver a one man show - he played four very different characters, two elderly women and two elderly men all living in different nursing homes. He arrived in a Noel Coward type dressing gown and make up, proceeded to do some flambuoyant movement and dance based on Japanese Kabuki and then stripped off to reveal a tattered kilt. Each character had a small prop - a headband for one of the women, a box for one of the men and each character was mesemerising - as he changed ffom one to the other he performed extraodinary Kabuki routines - this could have been horribly naff but was in fact totally compelling. We all left stunned after giving him thunderous applause.

Bank holiday weekend here and it's the Ahakista Regatta. The fun starts off with a pub quiz hosted by the Catholic priest! Non-stop here.

Crikey - just getting the link for Shaamie and I've been blipped! How did he do that - last I saw him he was on his way to Kerry!! Touche!!
