Bert 069!

Not really Bert but as you can see by the ear tag he is number 069. After doing all sorts of admin duties this morning I decided to take time out and go for a drive this afternoon. I drove along the highway heading northwest then crossed the valley, driving back down the other side. Meeting up with Bert 069 brought back memorise of growing up in the country. As soon as I got out of the car with the camera about 60 head of cattle within 60m of the fence all stopped grazing and faced me. I stopped striding and slowly walked, Bert and his friends repositioned them selves, all 60 of them. Raising the camera I slowed to a shuffle, the cattle started retreating. I took the shot and they all headed to the other side of the paddock. My second photo for the day is not far from Bert's place looking across the Hunter Valley. FYI, like us, Bert 069 will have a birth to death/abattoir history digitally maintains by the owner farmer, just like our medical records. If Bert and his mates are sold, their entire history must go with them. Cool day at 19C with a clear blue sky and light breeze, the wind will increase as we get closer to August. Hope you all have a really great day!
