Hol Mich Hier Raus!

or "Get Me Out Of Here!"

Moot spent this morning lying in some bushes.  Not sleeping but paying attention in that way that cats do.  And so we left him to it.

A while later I heard a noise and thought "what is G doing?"

G wasn't doing anything other than quietly working at her computer.

So I investigated.

And I found Moot desperately trying to get in behind the hi-fi unit.

He was running backwards and forwards, trying to squeeze a paw in behind or peering underneath and swiping with paws.

This little critter was the reason why.

We found a hole in front of where Moot was lying in the bushes and it must be a mousehole.  He'd waited hours in there and this was his prize - he'd brought it in to the living room but it had escaped.

I shoo-ed Moot out of the room and between us, G & I found and captured the poor little thing.  It only took two boxes, a broom, 30 minutes and some excellent comedy scampering from die Maus here and it was in a box.

We couldn't release it in the garden so we took it out to some fields nearby - lots of food and lots of cover for it there.

Worries that Moot might have injured it were assuaged by said Mouse  jumping for freedom as soon as it saw daylight and scarpering.

Farewell little Mouse and we wish you well.

Some details - this was taken from directly above the mouse.  It was about 45cm/18" off the ground here.  Sensible really when a big cat is swiping away at ground level.  The extra shows Hr/Frau Maus from the side and if you make that bigger you can see where Moot had him in his mouth because of the way the fur is matted (the Maus wasn't bleeding or injured at all, promise).

I like me critters.
