Lumberman's Monument

We had to leave Oscoda, Michigan to get my son Jeff back to work this afternoon. I made him stop at this monument to take a couple of shots.

The statue was dedicated in 1932 at a cost of $50,000. I made Jeff get in there to give it a little perspective.

The guy in the middle is the timber cruiser. That is not a cell phone he is working. It is a compass. The guy on the right is the sawyer. He is brandishing an ax, and a cross-saw. The guy on the left is what they called a river rat. He is yielding a peavey. He is the only one I yelled at..."HEAVE-HO!!! HO-HEAVEY!!! LET ME SEE YOU... USE THAT PEAVEY!!!

If you haven't already...please visit my back blips...starting on 7-28. (I'm not quite sure how to link there...but will try. Try pushing here. WOO-HOO! It worked! I'm going linkin loco!

Will catch up tomorrow on your journals.
