A Ride on the River
After dragging the kayaks up north...we at least had to take one good ride. The Au Sable River was our destination.
The choice was for a 2 hour tour, or a 4 hour tour. We decided on the 4. With my second key fob...Uncle Steve and Aunt Lori moved my van from the starting point to the ending point. Wasn't that nice of them?
Within 1 minute...we spotted a blue heron. It was the only one we saw. Not many birds. Jeff did "sneak" up on these geese, and forced them to fly.
We were 3 days removed from the famous Grayling to Oscoda canoe race. 114 miles! They go all night long. As we neared our take out point in a small park...I acted like we were the last stragglers of the race. Never mind that we were in kayaks, and not canoes.
"I can't believe we made it...Jeff!!! C'mon people...let's hear it for the last of the canoe marathoners!!! We did get looks....but no applause.
Some more shots are on my flickr page. A stream by the boys "deer camp." A long sand dune leading down to the river.(Look for the people half way down...and in the river.) And...a butterfly, the full moon, and a marvelous sunset. Also...a shot of a dock where the people collect "water shoes" that float by. Very colorful.
10 bucks at the camp store got us graham crackers, Hershey bars, and marshmallows to make s'mores. I wanted SOME MORE...but ate just one. Delicious.
