wedding day

The wedding day finally came, after so much preparation.
The taxi came at 10.15 and took us to the Mansion House in the grounds of Edinburgh Zoo. The wedding ceremony took place there at 11.00. It was a very lovely and moving ceremony, the bride, my eldest niece Kasia, looked stunning, everybody was smiling and looking great in their finery.
Then pictures, drinks, canapes, chats and children playing in the gardens. I didn't bother to try getting pictures of any of this as the official photographer was clearly doing a fine job and I look forward to seeing his photographs in a few weeks.
A sumptuous meal followed with speeches and favours and little toys for the babies and the wine kept flowing.
After that we had time to explore the zoo. The pandas eluded us but we saw penguins and bears and lots of others and the babies were very taken with the capuchin monkeys.
Then back to the Mansion house for more drinks and chats, and finally a look at the very fine wedding cake made by my sister. The cutting of the cake and the first dance, then a barbecue, a very lively Scottish ceili and then finally a disco.
We didnt attempt to stay till the end and left amid a swirl of whirling dancers who by all accounts stayed until the small hours.

My favourite picture of the day is this selfie we took this morning as we waited for the taxi - myself with two of my children and all four of my grandchildren in the same place for the first time ever.
Extras - Freddie and Mila, Oscar and the chimps, little monkey.
I tried to add a picture of the cake but it for some reason won't upload.
