An ordinary life....

on another great holiday in France.

Last day ....boo hoo!

D & K were up early as they had a round of golf booked. By 1.30 Ele and I were a bit concerned that they hadn't returned. They turned up not long after and it turns out they'd got paired up for a four ball with a couple of French guys who turned out to be the slowest and worst players they've ever seen!!

Now David is the first to admit he is more of a happy hacker than competent golfer but I think the French pair made him feel like Luke Donald! At one point the pair produced a packet of biscuits and proceeded to have the "closest thing to a picnic without a tartan blanket!"

The golfers playing behind phoned the clubhouse to complain about the slowness of their round and the Club President arrived on a golf buggy to have a word with the French guys. D & K were mortified! E and I couldn't stop laughing when they told us! That's one round they won't forget in a hurry!

Keeping up our holiday tradition, we decided to have a BBQ for our last dinner. The girls opted for the usual sausages and burgers but us grown ups fancied fish for a change. We had visions of some salmon fillets with lemon and dill and some sea bass poached in foil with lemon, red onion, tomato and a splash of white wine. Ele headed to the supermarket to get the necessary ingredients. Yummmmmm....

Upon her return she informed us that she'd got the salmon no problem but as she didn't know the French for Sea Bass, had just opted for some nice looking white fish called églefin in the hope it was Sea Bass or similar. A quick squint in google translate told us that the églefin was not infact sea bass but wai for it........ haddock!

Hahahahahahahahahaha.....BBQ'd haddock! There's a first! Quite tricky with the batter an' all! ;-)

That aside, we enjoyed a long leisurely dinner reminiscing about other idyllic holidays in France and taking silly photographs of each other which none of the spoilsports would let me blip so you have our final sunset instead.

Vive la France!

P.S. Turns out sea bass is loup de mer!
