Homeward Bound...
Back Blipped 01.08.12
Up before sunrise to head to St Malo for the 10.30am ferry to Portsmouth.
When we got there it was quite a shock to see two armed guards with semi-automatic weapons patrolling the passport kiosk. Of course David waited till the car was so close to one of them that the butt of his gun was almost in the open car window, to say "I hope they don't ask us to open the roof box. That would be a catastrophy!"
I of course knew the reason it would be a catastrophy was the roof box was so choc full of stuff it would be virtually impossible to close again but obviously the guy with the gun did not! Thankfully I think David's Scottish accent masked the meaning of his words as we were waved through without incident!
Lovely smooth ferry crossing where we spent the time resting, showering, reading and having a delicious lunch...and I mean really delicious. Top restaurant quality. And of course some last minute shopping in the ferry's perfume shop.
Didn't dock till 6.20pm so sadly no time to visit Gunwharf Quay. Straight to Premier Inn for dinner and an early night before the long drive home tomorrow.
