Summer at the seaside.
Today was definitely summer.
We had a trip.out and I wore a summer frock, sandals and sunglasses! Must be summer.
We went to Sewerby Hall nr Bridlington on the east coast of Yorkshire, a place visited many times since childhood.
After a coffee we looked around the formal and walled gardens. All very colourful and here, as last week at Harlow Carr there were tributes to Roald Dahl's centenary. The BFG again and others; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; Fantastic Mr Fox; Matilda and the Witches.
One of the special things about here is that you can get a little land train along the cliff tops to Bridlington. Today though we walked and there was a very pleasant breeze on this the hottest day of summer so far.
We weren't the only ones seeking breeze.
There were 4 parascenders taking off from the cliff edge picking up the thermals from below. Here is the first one as he has just launched himself. The red roofed building behind him is Sewerby cricket pavillion right in front of the hall and the cliffs are at Flamborough Head, another walk I think.
We walked right along to the North Marine Promenade and got some fish and chips, which we ate sitting on the sea wall. It's what you do at the seaside!
At one point the parascender you can see came right over our heads on the promenade.
We walked back for a cup of tea in the gardens before returning home. A super day out!
